 Traveling

How to reach Perugia

- Train -  There are two main railway lines: For those arriving from North (via Florence), change at Terontola and take the Terontola-Perugia-Foligno line. If arriving from the Adriatic coast or from Rome: take the Ancona-Foligno-Perugia train and change at Foligno for the Foligno-Perugia-Terontola line. There are direct trains leaving from Rome, Central Station (Stazione Termini) for Perugia: by EUROSTAR (ES) the trip will take 2 hours and 15 minutes, by interregional train (IR) almost 3 hours. Otherwise, change at Foligno and the jouney time is about 3 1/2 hours. There is also a rapid train that connects Milan to Perugia. - Bus -  A bus service (SULGA) connects Rome (stazione Tiburtina or Rome Fiumicino Airport), Florence, Milan and Naples with Perugia.

- Local Airport -  The Aeroporto Internazionale dell’Umbria Perugia –Sant' Egidio (12 km from Perugia) is connected daily to the main European airports via Malpensa Airport (Milano, 2 daily flights). In summer a daily flight is also operational from the Fiumicino (Roma) Airport

Ryanair operates a service from/to London Stansted (www.ryanair.com), and seasonal connections are available to further destinations.

The Airport is connected to the city with a bus service. The journey takes about 35 minutes and the cost of the fare is € 3,50. There is also a taxi service: tel. +39.075.5004888; the journey will take 15 minutes and the cost is € 20.

Basic information

Duty Free Import

Personal effects and professional equipment can be brought into Italy duty free as long as the customs officer deems their contents and quantities reasonable. Delegates from EU countries can easily bring in goods without any limit or formal measures.

Climate

The average temperatures in Perugia during the period of the conference are min 14°C (58°F) and max 28°C (82°F).

Currency Exchange

Euro is the currency in use accepted at regular stores and restaurants. Credit cards are widely accepted at almost all hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops. You can at foreign exchange banks and other authorized money exchange upon presentation of your passport.
Be aware that most banks are open Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Credit Cards

VISA, MasterCard, Diners Club, and American Express are widely accepted credit cards at hotels, department stores, shops, restaurants.

Electricity

The electrical current is 220-230V, AC, 50 Hz throughout Italy. Leading hotels in major cities have two outlets of 110 and 220 volts but usually with two-leg plugs only.

Shopping

Shops and other sales outlets in Italy are generally open on weekdays and Saturdays from
