The International workshop on holography and condensed matter systems will take place at the Department of Physics and Geology of the University of Perugia, on September 24 and 25, 2015.

arrow Abstract

The discovery of new materials has increased in recent years the need for a consistent theoretical description, which could be used also as a computational framework, for strongly coupled condensed matter systems. The holographic correspondence could be a precious tool in this direction and might give important insights for systems such as strange metals, high-Tc superconductors, topological insulators and graphene.
The workshop will put together condensed matter theorists, experimentalists and experts on applications of the holographic correspondence to condensed matter systems. The aim of the workshop will be to establish a common ground between theorists and experimentalists to find the appropriate physical quantities that can be predicted by the gauge/gravity duality and then observed in experiments.
